Magazine Layout Design

InnerGenerational: Becoming Ancestors is a collective dream of ancestries and realities — a space to explore healing, and honour unforgettable stories of our ancestors through music, rap, poetry,
comedy, dance, and more.

As the lead brand designer and a featured artist, I made sure every part of our brand — from our online presence to the in-person shows — felt connected and intentional.

One of the projects I’m most proud of was designing our annual magazine, sold at each venue. I didn’t want the experience to end when the show did — I wanted people to have something they could take home, flip through, and remember what they felt that night.

The cover featured one of my own oil paintings created for the show, titled The Flowers We Give — a piece of two hands with veins as vines and flowers blooming through them, set against the ocean. It’s about the power we hold in our hands, the beauty we still choose to offer despite all the struggles we face.

Project Scope

For InnerGenerational 2024, I led the design and art direction of the event magazine, created to reflect the show’s theme: Becoming Ancestors. I made sure each page honored the essence of the performing artists by curating their standout work—music, poetry, visual art—into a printed piece that followed the rhythm of the show itself.

I also directed photography for the artist bios and event visuals, making sure everything felt cohesive and aligned with the tone of the project.

Designed in Figma, InDesign, and Lightroom, the magazine became a tangible keepsake that extended the experience beyond the venue—something people could take home, revisit, and feel connected to long after the show ended.
